Actraz is used primarily in livestock management, especially for tick and mite control.
1.During Tick or Mite Infestation.
Applied when cattle or livestock show signs of:
- Tick infestations (visible ticks, itching, discomfort)
- Mange caused by mites
- Fleas or lice
Particularly useful in warm, humid seasons when ticks are most active.
2. As a Preventive Measure.
- Often used prophylactically to prevent infestation, even if parasites aren’t yet visible.
- Common on farms with known parasite history or where neighboring farms have infestations.
- Part of routine livestock treatment schedules (e.g., every 7–14 days during high-risk periods).
After Rainy Seasons
- Ticks and external parasites tend to multiply during or after rainy seasons.
- Used post-rain to reduce tick populations before they spread heavily.
3. Before Animal Transport or Sale.
- Animals are often treated before:
- Being transported to new locations (to prevent spreading ticks)
- Being sold in markets
- Ensures the animal is parasite-free and healthy-looking.
4. In High-Tick Environments.
- Farms or areas known for high tick density ( bushy, wooded, or warm climates)
Helps prevent diseases transmitted by ticks like:
East Coast Fever
Anaplasmosis
Babesiosis
